Lee and Claire's Wedding was at Sopley Mill in Christchurch Dorset. A beautiful rustic 18th century watermill, surrounded on both sides by the Millstream of the River Avon.
The day was super relaxed with the speeches outside as well as the first dance. The theme was 'Country Garden' which used a number of different colours with no set colour scheme as such, but Lee and both dads wore Tweed to keep the country garden and rustic feel.
In addition to this, the ceremony room at Sopley Mill had lots of Stoneware pots along the aisle with beautiful summer and country flowers in them which Claire found at numerous Sunday car boot sales. The chairs were set out in a more relaxed fashion too. Claire had done a lot of shopping to find the perfect Stoneware pots as well as borrowing two large milk churns from a local farmer whose land they use to go shooting on. The shooting theme which they love to do in their spare time was utilised in the Riverview Reception room for the table decor as well as the stoneware pots and garden theme table names.
The flowers used throughout the day were designed by Arcade Flowers, but the main influence on them was from Claire's Grandma. Claire always had her Grans garden in mind when she thought about the flowers. Wild and colourful was the plan as she used to go on walks, and she would pick seeds from wild flowers and then 'chuck' them on the garden and hey presto, they would just grow! Plus they grew their own veg in the back garden - hence the table names etc.
The day started at Lee and Claire's home where lee got ready. They knew that I'm known for finding interesting and creative places to put the brides shoes so Lee wanted me to do a few with his shoes which he loved.
Sopley Mill had it's very own bridal preparation room which is fantastic for brides and bridesmaids to have access to and made a great location for makeup and dress shots as well as utilising the Mill to find great places for the shoes.
The day was so relaxed that in addition to the speeches and first dance being outside, when guests arrived, Lee and his dad were serving drinks to their guests which was a lovely gesture to see.
I thoroughly recommend Sopley Mill to any couple looking for a wedding venue. It ticks so many boxes and is incredibly inkeeping with any plans for a rustic/country wedding theme.
