Tom and Clare kicked off their time with me with their Engagement shoot in Limousin near Limoges in France where they look after Clares Nans 18th century rural holiday retreat called Le Penaud Git for most of the year. It is set near and around quintessential France with some beautiful villages. The perfect location for them.
Tom and Clare chose Highcliffe Castle as a compromise for their wedding venue. Clare really wanted a traditional church wedding & Tom wanted a marquee. They visited Highcliffe Castle on a wet and dark January day on the off chance and fell in love with it. It was a compromise but they certainly didn’t feel as if they were settling by not having their ‘dream’. They loved the idea that the reception and day/evening were in different rooms, it gave them the feeling that they were in a different place without having to move location. They also had a large guest list, most of whom were not local, to accommodate & Highcliffe Castle ticked every box.
Once Tom and Clare had booked Highcliffe, they set about planning a ‘theme’ which would complement the castle. They chose simple & elegant. They didn’t want anything which would draw attention away from this amazing place. Maria at Simply Flower ‘got’ us and what we were trying to achieve when it came to the flowers and decor.
Making sure that their guests had as much fun as they did was paramount, so a sweet cart and photobooth was a must for them. They introduced a touch of France, at the Bar with Locally (In France) produced Eau d’Vie & bought in our own interests with our table names....Rugby stadiums for Tom and Equestrian Events for Clare, with the top table being named Hartpury after where they met, studied and followed their passions on the field and in the arena.
On the music front they let the part of the day take the lead, 'A Touch of Class' on the strings gave the Ceremony and Drinks Reception the more traditional wedding feel (for Clare). A Pianist (Simon Woodley) for the Wedding Breakfast with a more light-hearted modern feel, (for Tom) and they finished the evening with a DJ for the evenings entertainment to get everybody dancing.
