Nick and Ellie are the most wonderful couple! It was such a pleasure to be part of their big day in Astypalea, Greece where Ellie's Aunty lives and who organised the majority of the day. They only had their close family over to Greece ready for a celebration with all friends and family on this years busiest wedding day of the year, July 18th at The Italian Villa in Poole.
Astypalea is one of the most Southern Islands in Greece. Their time in Astypalea started with their engagement shoot acround the island with me, getting used to the camera and highlighting places to shoot on the day but also utilising as many places as we could on the engagement shoot that we knew we couldn't fit in on the wedding day. I would have loved to have shot so many more shots of them, but even a destination wedding has time restraints too.
There were so many surprises on the wedding day that Ellie's aunty had arranged including a lot of Greek traditions such as the groom arriving to give the bride her bouquet, the mother in laws feeding them both honey, Ellie writing all the single girls names on the bottom of her shoe for good luck, a late night dance from some of the local children and many more!
The engagement shoot was key to check out the amazing rustic Chora Castle where they would marry the day after and we had a great time having a look around for some other great photo opportunities for the wedding day as well as using manyfor the engagement shoot.
We all arrived in the small town of Chora after lots of beeping cars all the way down to be met by Ellie's hair dresser and another musician to play as everyone walked up to the castle through old streets and small stairs up to the beautiful old door of the castle. The mayor of the town ,arried them as well as a blessing from Ellie's Uncle John who will coordinate their English Blessing Ceremony on July 18th.
We took advantage of the beautiful old streets and colours of the town after the ceremony whilst guests made their way to the hotel for the reception.
